Check out the video the Dallas-based indie-dance outfit Mystery Skulls just released for their new song ‘Paralyzed.’ Mystery Skulls formed in 2011 and is the newest project of Luis Dubuc, who is best known for his work in The Secret Handshake. ‘Paralyzed’ has Dubuc’s vocals (reminiscent at times of Chomeo’s Dave 1) laid on top of a relentlessly catchy bassline. The song peaks with some screaming synths in the outro, which I think could afford to be about 20 seconds longer.
The video is made up of clips from Spike Jonze’s short film “I’m Here.”
The video will be enjoyed by anyone who has a soft spot for emotional
robots.
As a side note, the full title of the short film used for this video is “I’m Here, A Love Story in an Absolut World.” It is part of Absolut’s collection of unique marketing tie-in efforts which include Swedish House Mafia’s video for "Greyhound" and Little Dragon’s video for their new single “Sunshine”.
