Crazy P(enis) @ Highline Ballroom 9/2

Crazy P is an electronic group from the UK that have been around for quite sometime (formed in 1995). They normally produce deep house, disco, and house style tracks which are as chill as ever. And no, the title of this post is not a joke (ok it kind of is). Their name was technically Crazy Penis but was officially shortened for obvious reasons in 2008.

I believe this show was just recently announced (or maybe I just overlooked it) but I personally cannot wait for this. Sure, it's after a 3 day binge of every sub-genre of electronic music (Sunday night of EZoo 9/2) so exhaustion could be a concern but I will be making every effort to attend this solely for Crazy P. Unlike many shows in the electronic scene, this will be live with their full band of 5 people and if you haven't heard their live album, When We Live, I highly recommend checking it out for a little sneak preview. If you cannot find that live recording/album (I believe it's a rarity) then feel free to preview some of my favorite tracks from them below or their newest studio album When We On.

Tickets are on sale now via Resident Advisor for the show at Highline Ballroom and are only $25 which is a steal. They have a very chill disco/house vibe to them so even if you are too tired after EZoo I recommend you check them out. They will be accompanied by dOP and Safeword at Highline Ballroom. Special thanks to Verboten for getting them to come to NYC and like I said before, look for my favorite tracks of theirs below.

Fake Blood at Hudson Terrace Review

This past Thursday night nyc was lucky enough to be graced by Fake Blood FOR FREE.  This being the 4th time I've seen British DJ Theo Keating, one might think his sets would start to get stale and boring to me.  This couldn't be further from the truth.  Every set from him has completely different, yet equally impressive.

Fake Blood came out with an eclectic mix of music, ranging from his classic electro sound, to fun disco tunes, and even got into some tech house at points.  Interestingly enough, he skipped most of his biggest hits and went with a setlist in which I could only recognize a handful of songs.  Whatever he was playing, he kept the packed out rooftop bar moving the entire night.

At the end of the night a friend and myself had the opportunity to shoot the shit with the man himself for a few quick minutes and thank him for the show he just put on.  Gotta love a venue thats so small and personal that you can show your appreciation to the DJ.

Here's a few of my favorites from him:

The club erupted when he played this one

Some of that deep, gritty synth that Fake Blood is known for

Be sure to check out Viceroy  at Hudson Terrace for some more free Thursday night fun next week.

Climbers - 2 Come Back EP [Culprit]

It's finally here! I've been patiently waiting for this release since I first heard Droog drop the original mix at Coachella in April.  I happily give you "2 Come Back" by Climbers, released July 30th on Culprit, Droog's LA-based (absolutely stellar) label.

Climbers outdid themselves with this one.  Literally every element of this track is too catchy.  The Mexican duo of Jay Blakk and Kiko Dea do everything in their power to rope you in: from the bassline hook, to the atmospheric accents, to the infectious vocals, I'm pretty sure its impossible to stand still when this track is played.  Add in remixes from Venezuelan tech house gurus Fur Coat (Crosstown Rebels) and indie dance / disco legend Miguel Campbell (Hot Creations) and you have yourself a sterling EP.  Grab the EP here!

The XX's 'Angels' gets an upbeat makeover from Theatre of Delays

German producer Theatre of Delays has taken The XX's 'Angels' and given it a fun disco feel:

Check out The XX's original version here:

Theatre of Delays has a ton of great songs (and free downloads) on his Soundcloud page, here are a few of my favorites:

Prince - When Doves Cry (Theatre of Delays Remix)

The Rapture - In the Grace of Your Love (Theatre of Delays Remix)

Theatre of Delays - Journey to the Sun

This guy is super talented, and I hope we see a lot more from him in the future. Let us know what you guys think!

Viceroy - Chase Us Around feat. Madi Diaz

Today marks the release of Viceroy's first single of 2012 entitled "Chase Us Around".  Another perfect summer tune, this poolside hit features the vocals of Madi Diaz paired up with a great steel drum and groovy bass.  If you close your eyes, you can just smell that good ol' salt water air.  Make sure to give this a spin at your BBQ or beach party this 4th of July as it is sure to keep the relaxed vibes on high.  As always, support the man by buying this stellar track from iTunes or Beatport.

Madeon Minimix for Annie Mac

By now, Madeon is a name familiar to most people in touch with the EDM community. From his chart topping remixes of Raise Your Weapon and The Island to his smash hit Pop Culture Mashup, this young gun is at the forefront of the young wave in electro. This week, he had the opportunity to put together a minimix for Annie Mac over at Radio 1 and what the young man does with 5 minutes is nothing short of extraordinary. He seamlessly samples an astounding 96 songs (!!!) to create what can only be described as Pop Culture on Steroids.  The mix covers everyone from the Beatles to Daft Punk to Kanye West.  By the looks of it, he hits almost every genre of dance music I can name.  Give the mix a listen and be sure to take advantage of the FREE DOWNLOAD while it lasts!

Summer Is Officially Here

According to the calendar that is. Granted, it is hotter than hell out and I am in dire need of a swimming pool or an ocean right now so I guess the calendar is right. Because of this, I have found myself at work (inside unfortunately) listening almost exclusively to poolside disco jams in anticipation of the weekend and any body of water.

A couple of my favorite disco producers have graciously released some mixes that will put everyone in that same mood (if the weather hasn't already forced that mood on to you too). Be on the lookout for Goldroom in particular as he will be DJ'ing at Hudson Terrace next Thursday, definitely should not be missed. Listen below and enjoy a special extra treat of Oliver remixing Breakbot, an amazing combination.

BONUS: Breakbot - One Out of Two (feat. Irfane) (Oliver Remix)

Fred Falke & Summertime

If anyone out there is into the nu-disco scene, then Fred Falke is no stranger to you.  For those of you unfamiliar, check out these two remixes below for honest to goodness disco glory.  These tracks make me want to run away to Ibiza or LA and just dance on the beach all day.

Weekend Mixes

Well the weekend is here once again and with summer officially in full swing, I have two incredible mixes just for you all.  We first start off with the Nu Disco up and comer from Germany, Justin Faust.  He has quickly become a must know name in the disco scene and has been creating mixes that rival the Magic Tapes from The Magician, great for any summer weekend.  Up next, we have Shinichi Osawa who created one of the best techno mixes I think I've ever heard.  I am not normally a techno fan but I have listened to this 3 times now and closing it out with a Soulwax remix of Arcade Fire is just phenomenal.  Depending on your mood, both of these are excellent listens for the weekend and I hope you all agree.

As an added bonus, I threw in a track that was recently brought to my attention by a friend.  Some true dubstep that is just too damn impressive to not post, especially because it comes from a deep house producer, Maya Jane Coles.

Back From the Dead!!!

It has been far too long since this blog has seen some fresh new tunes!  After an insanely busy spring which was highlighted by stops at Coachella and Electric Daisy Carnival in NYC, we are back to get your summer kicked off with some of the freshest tunes on the market!  To ease you back into the swing of things, check out the latest Magic Tape from the Magician.  As always it features the freshest beats and superb mixing.  If this doesn't get you ready for Memorial Day weekend, then you friend are beyond my help.

Flight Facilities - With You (Extended Mix)
??? - ???
White Shadow - If You Like It (Rick Rude remix)

Freshy Fresh

Well then, I know it has been forever since my last post on here but I know some people are still somewhat interested in the new tunes I have come across. This post contains the freshest of the fresh, whether that mean really new or a couple months old, most all of these are guaranteed to be bangers in some regard. Disco, House, Tech House, Techno, Drum and Bass, you name it, this post has it. I won't go into much detail about all of these but definitely give each one at least a listen. Hopefully, this gap in posts won't happen again but how am I to know how busy I will be with work and friends. Also, check the right side as I have updated all upcoming shows at each venue again (finally, I know).

Mandatory Must-Have Levels Bootleg (VERY similar to the unreleased Bag Raiders/Anna Lunoe Bootleg):
Gotye vs. Avicii - Levels vs. Somebody I Used to Know (Art Van Delay Mash Up)

No need to listen, just grab this gem (Vocal Pop House):
Calvin Harris & Rihanna - We Found Love (FareOh Remix)

Many more after the jump! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Holy Toledo

I've always hated that saying but in this instance I feel like it is appropriate since these next few songs absolutely rock it. I can honestly say these are my 3 favorite songs at the moment and they are all no older than the beginning of summer time. First up is a song that has been remixed to death. And when I say to death I mean it. Everyone and their mother has tried a remix of Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites and most fail (not a huge fan of the original even). Some say Kaskade's is great, among others, but hardly ever did I hear anyone mention the name Gabriell. This song is completely different from any other remix I've heard and I love it for it. Not just because it's different but it's a pleasure to listen to as well. Check it out and there's a free download for it as well thanks to Gabriell himself.

Skrillex - Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites (Gabriell Remix) | Soundcloud

Next up are two massive songs by two people that I have started to listen to more and more. I've always known they were out there but never really took the time to listen to all their stuff as nothing really wowed me. This has now changed after hearing the John Dahlback remix of Big by Sneaky Sound System and Funkagenda + Adam K's song Drift. Both of these songs are phenomenal and should be played out as much as possible. Actually heard DallasK of all people drop the Dahlback remix at Webster Hall a couple weeks ago and needless to say I went ape shit.  Drift has been out for a couple months but I have never really been into Funkagenda until I listened to his set from Detroit the other night when he opened for Deadmau5.  Check out both below but I must warn you that wherever you are you will want to start dancing (not that that's a bad thing).

Monday Minimix

Been a little while since I have posted a Monday Mix but this one I simply couldn't resist telling you all about. I recently discovered Daze, another musical genius from France, and this mix doesn't disappoint in the least. This mostly disco minimix, is perfect for any sunny day for the rest of the summer. Quite a few unknown songs on here with some more familiar ones from Breakbot, Nero, and Daze himself. Definitely worth a listen along with a free download from the man himself. Check all of his remixes which are featured on his Soundcloud.

Weekend Jams

So the weekend has finally begun as I'm sure we all know and for any of you going to Identity at Jones Beach on Sunday I will see you all there. There are plenty of new songs that have just (and i mean JUST) been released leaked. Found a bunch of them with Youtube videos so you can preview them before you go to download them. Take a listen to some new Avicii, Exphere, and Louis La Roche. All are incredibly good and right in time for you all to rage to.

David Guetta & Avicii - Sunshine (Original Mix) (Yes, this is the full song no BS preview or set rip)

Monday Mix - Aeroplane

Another month, another Aeroplane mix. I don't think I will ever get sick of these as there are always tracks that I don't know on these. On top of that, they're almost all great tracks. Definitely give this one a listen as you should anything with the Aeroplane name attached to it.

Disco will NEVER die

Greetings! So last night I happened to download about 40 new disco tracks from the heavy hitters Louis La Roche and Simian Mobile Disco along with some new artists such as Fred Falke. I haven't had to digest all of them yet but so far these are all pure gold. I am leaving you guys with "Look Into Your Eyes" from Fred Falke because it is raw disco. Arguably the disco jam of the summer if you ask me.

BONUS!!! I just came across the entire Bingo Players set from Tomorrowland! Follow the link below for a FREE download!

Madeon Live Mashup

Got sent this video today via Facebook and realized it was put up yesterday by Madeon himself. This is how you mash up pop songs, plain and simple. The kid has skills and I can't wait to hear the original stuff that he has supposedly been working on since the Deadmau5 Remix. Hopefully he's also been working on his DJ skills and not just production so we can all see him tour soon (that means come to New York, please). Check out his mash up of about 39 of his favorite songs below as he does it live for all of us to see how good he really is.

Where to Begin...

There is way too much new music I want to share with you all but not enough space in this one post. I don't even know how to split it up at all so first off I will post the mixes I have found in the past few days which are all fantastic. Then I guess I'll go to the radio rips, and then to the full songs that are new or I have just discovered. Or maybe I don't know what I'll do. Check the most recent few posts and you'll find all the music you could ever want from the past few days.

Monday Mix - Keep The Funk Alive

Well, first things first.  I realize I haven't posted anything since god knows when.  No, the blog will not be inactive, I simply had a rough weekend and felt like dying from about Friday until Sunday.  Now that that's out of the way, I bring you an hour long mix from Aeroplane.  I'm not really sure what to classify this mix as, potentially funk/disco?  Aeroplane took the pleasure of calling it "Boobs" which can't be a bad thing.  Below is the mix plus the best jam on the mix in my opinion.  Been having this song on repeat for the past couple days, keeping the funk alive baby.

The Supermen Lovers - Keep The Funk Alive (Cityzen Remix)

Crave You

This song by Flight Facilities has been remixed numerous times and every time it is, the vocals always get me. Heard at least 5 remixes of these vocals to date and no matter what people put behind Gisele's voice, it never gets old. A new one was released today by Michael Brun, Paris FZ & Simo T and needless to say it is a great listen. If this doesn't put you in a good mood I don't know what will. I've also included a couple other remixes of Crave You that I love because even listening to all 3 in a row, the vocals still don't get old.
