John B Summer Studio Mix

If you don't know by now, I'm a huge fan of John B. Definitely rivals Netsky, Sub Focus, Andy C, Metrik, High Contrast, and Camo & Krooked as my favorite drum and bass DJ/producer. Was first introduced to his stuff thanks to Jack Beats and their remix of his song Up All Night.  I initially thought their song was an original (it's awesome regardless) but soon realized that it was pretty much a remix of John B's original. I have been following him closely ever since.

Just yesterday, he posted his Summer 2012 Studio Mix up on Mixcloud and it is quite phenomenal. I have posted it for your listening pleasure below along with quite possibly the best DnB mix of a big room house song I've heard to date. Everyone has been loving Porter Robinson's Language but I think the original pales in comparison to this DnB remix. I honestly wish this remix was played all the time in place of the original. Make sure to check out John B's other mixes as well on his mixcloud channel. Tracklist after the jump as well.

New Music: Midtown Summer Sessions

Here's another mix I recorded the other day.  One or two tracks are older, most are newer, but they're all of the highest quality.  Mostly deep/tech house with a bit of techno peppered in there.  Feel free to comment / message me and let me know your thoughts...I'm a big fan of feedback.  And follow me on Soundcloud!  Cheers.

Jack Beats New Album

Finally! Some news about Jack Beats' new album. Anyone who follows them knows how much they have been in the studio as of late. Today they released a 30 minute mixtape of some of their new material and let me just say it's magnificent. They have said they are going to release two mini albums rather than one big one as it "works better with their style of music". The first album, Careless, will be released via OWSLA on Beatport August 7th. From what this mixtape has to offer, I do not think anyone will be disappointed with what they have come up with (can you really go wrong with that signature wobbly Jack Beats sound?). In addition, if Niall & Beni are ever around your area (they'll be at EZoo) then I strongly recommend you check them out. Seen them three times now and they always throw a hell of a show.

Tuesday Afternoon Grooves

Writing about the Sasha Sunset Cruise got me stoked on all the new music I've been getting lately, so I decided to lay down a little set last night.  Slower, smooth deep house tunes.  Hope you enjoy.

Eric Prydz EPIC Radio

If Eric Prydz doesn't get you excited then I'm not sure you truly appreciate house music. He has started this monthly radio show that he posts to his SoundCloud and so far, he has not disappointed with the song selection, playing lots of new tracks for the first time. This is a great way to get the week started and to make yourself forget about how another work week is under way.
In case you haven't been keeping up with his tour dates, he is making a big trip over to North America and touring with Identity Festival right about now. It is very rare to see him make the trip over due to the long flight and his fear of flying so this is an absolute must see for me. We can only hope that he will plan an extra day in NYC so we can see him at a more intimate venue than Jones Beach, say Webster Hall, Terminal 5, Cielo, or what have you (preferably not Pacha). Also make sure to check out his newest album out under one of his aliases Pryda, called Eric Prydz Presents Pryda. Enjoy the mix and as usual, track list after the jump.

Madeon Minimix for Annie Mac

By now, Madeon is a name familiar to most people in touch with the EDM community. From his chart topping remixes of Raise Your Weapon and The Island to his smash hit Pop Culture Mashup, this young gun is at the forefront of the young wave in electro. This week, he had the opportunity to put together a minimix for Annie Mac over at Radio 1 and what the young man does with 5 minutes is nothing short of extraordinary. He seamlessly samples an astounding 96 songs (!!!) to create what can only be described as Pop Culture on Steroids.  The mix covers everyone from the Beatles to Daft Punk to Kanye West.  By the looks of it, he hits almost every genre of dance music I can name.  Give the mix a listen and be sure to take advantage of the FREE DOWNLOAD while it lasts!

Trip Hop?

I'm still a little uncertain as to what to call the genre that certain people like Flosstradamus and Kito produce but man is it catchy.  If I had to say, I guess I would call it Electronic/Hip Hop but who knows honestly.  Anyway, I found this great Kito mix the other day that is filled with songs like this that I didn't know existed and I was very happy to give it a listen.  2 hours of straight Kito goodness and I even took the liberty to post a couple of my favorite tracks from it below.

Kito & Reija Lee - Sweet Talk

Who Says Dubstep is Stale?

I've been hearing from a lot of people how dubstep has gone downhill thanks to the likes of Knife Party and such but this mix provides a very eclectic mix of dubstep that should interest all the doubters of dubstep and fans alike.  I honestly didn't think this could top volume 2 but wow, the song selection on these mixes is just incredible.  Give it a listen below and prepare to be amazed for a solid 45 minutes.  The track list is on the video page but I posted it after the jump as well in case you're interested.

Weekend Mixes

Well the weekend is here once again and with summer officially in full swing, I have two incredible mixes just for you all.  We first start off with the Nu Disco up and comer from Germany, Justin Faust.  He has quickly become a must know name in the disco scene and has been creating mixes that rival the Magic Tapes from The Magician, great for any summer weekend.  Up next, we have Shinichi Osawa who created one of the best techno mixes I think I've ever heard.  I am not normally a techno fan but I have listened to this 3 times now and closing it out with a Soulwax remix of Arcade Fire is just phenomenal.  Depending on your mood, both of these are excellent listens for the weekend and I hope you all agree.

As an added bonus, I threw in a track that was recently brought to my attention by a friend.  Some true dubstep that is just too damn impressive to not post, especially because it comes from a deep house producer, Maya Jane Coles.

Back From the Dead!!!

It has been far too long since this blog has seen some fresh new tunes!  After an insanely busy spring which was highlighted by stops at Coachella and Electric Daisy Carnival in NYC, we are back to get your summer kicked off with some of the freshest tunes on the market!  To ease you back into the swing of things, check out the latest Magic Tape from the Magician.  As always it features the freshest beats and superb mixing.  If this doesn't get you ready for Memorial Day weekend, then you friend are beyond my help.

Flight Facilities - With You (Extended Mix)

A Couple of Mixes

Haven't posted many mixes lately, so seeing what has recently been posted on the interwebs, I figure it's about that time. Kaskade had the honors of doing a Radio 1 Essential Mix this past weekend and he was kind enough to post it on his Soundcloud for everyone to hear. In addition, Dillon Francis had a mini mix on Flux Pavilion and Doctor P's take over of Radio 1. To top it all off I have a more unknown name with Lucky Date dropping a solid 40 minute mix that I think I might like the best of all of them. It ranges from electro house to dubstep which is just the kind of variety that I like. Take a listen to all 3 mixes below and your ears will thank you.

Deadmau5 Mix

The Ministry of Sound is celebrating it's 20 years of existence by giving out 20 mixes from their top 20 DJ's over the years. To start it all off, they are giving out Deadmau5' mix from the DJ Mag Top 100 Awards last year. Although this mix may be old, it is definitely worth a listen as all the Mau5 classics make the cut along with some other interesting choices (although if you follow Mau5 closely you have probably heard most on here). I for one can't wait for his 5 nights of chaos here in New York at the beginning of October as I have tickets for 2 of them already. I strongly recommend checking him out if you haven't gotten tickets already as he will be putting on a brand new live show (which I believe is being fully unveiled tonight in Vancouver). Can't wait to see him back at Roseland for a night (or 2 or 3) that no one will forget.

More Mixes

So of course as soon as I struggle to find a new, recent mix about 5 drop in one day. I have posted a couple below, namely an A-Trak mix and a Gladkill mix. We all know who A-Trak is so he needs no introduction but Gladkill is rather unknown. Gladkill is a New Yorker who primarily produces chillstep tracks and remixes. He has posted his mix from Coachella earlier this year and it's as chill as ever. Perfect to leave on and just mellow out to. Take a listen below.

Monday Mix - Dirty South + Darth & Vader

Seeing as I've been MIA for so long I feel obligated to give you all 2 mixes today rather than just one. Even though I'm officially on vacation now I promise to try and give you all a full dose of good music for the duration of the week.
First off, Dirty South recently posted a 2 hour mix of his show at Cream, Amnesia on July 14th. Dirty South never fails in putting on a good show and I will definitely be checking him out at Electric Zoo. Always comes out with some fresh new house tracks.

Secondly, Darth & Vader had the guest mix this month on Lazy Rich's radio show and they destroyed it with their electro sound. Dropping everything from original stuff to Dirtyloud, Felguk, and Porter Robinson, it is all new electro and perfect for a pregame. If you can sit still during this mix then I applaud you and might say you don't know what the hell you're doing. Maybe this isn't the music for you. Great hour long mix, really would love to see them around NYC very soon.

Swanky Tunes

The July 2011 Promo mix from Swanky Tunes is awesome if I may describe it in one word. Great jams from the likes of Hardwell, Laidback Luke, Thomas Gold, and of course, Swanky Tunes. If I were ever to recommend that someone listen to a mix, I would more than likely choose this one for all the latest progressive house and house bangers. Seriously probably just going to throw this on at my next pregame so I don't have to keep picking new songs to play. Check this out and enjoy it while it lasts, it's hard not to like it.

Another Zeds Dead Minimix

Posted one of these a little while ago but it was only like 10 minutes long which wasn't nearly enough time to completely enjoy the dubstep of Zeds Dead.  Thankfully on this newest one they've tripled that length to around 30 minutes long (with 10 minutes of talking at the end).  Lots of unreleased stuff on here but also some older stuff like Rude Boy.  Make sure to check this mix out in its entirety and also don't forget to check Zeds Dead at the Mad Decent Block Party at the end of July for free.  All you need to do is go here and RSVP, remember, it's FREE.

Monday Mix - Illeven:Eleven

To be honest, I really don't remember how I came across the name Illeven:Eleven.  I think I was talking on Turntable.fm and someone mentioned this mix.  It is a bit old but let me just say this mix is fantastic.  No track list unfortunately, and many songs that I had no idea what they were but it makes me want even more.  Too many unknown remixes on here to count but seriously, give it a listen and you will love me for it.  Might be one of my favorite mixes that I've come across.  And while you're at it, if you haven't checked out turntable.fm, do that too, it's a great way to discover new music and broaden your horizons.  I'm on it quite a bit so keep an eye out for lamebrain.

Where to Begin...

There is way too much new music I want to share with you all but not enough space in this one post. I don't even know how to split it up at all so first off I will post the mixes I have found in the past few days which are all fantastic. Then I guess I'll go to the radio rips, and then to the full songs that are new or I have just discovered. Or maybe I don't know what I'll do. Check the most recent few posts and you'll find all the music you could ever want from the past few days.

Monday Mini Mix - Kito

Just discovered this dubstep mini mix that Kito did and it's pretty solid to say the least. I already posted a funky disco mix below but I've been in a dubstep mood lately so here we are. This chick is on Skream's label and she actually puts out some quality original stuff herself. Make sure to check out some of her original tracks on her Soundcloud as well as the mix below.
