Ready for the Weeknd

Some music from the Weeknd/MANIK before the weekend...

I've become a huge fan of MANIK over the last year or so.  Fantastic Nu Disco / Deep House vibes from all his tracks at the least, with hints of Acid, Funk, Electronica and the like.  He's born in raised in this fine city (Queens I think? Maybe Brooklyn?) and still swears by it judging by most of his tweets.  The guy is still young but has managed to release tracks on some pretty prestigious labels, such as Droog's LA-based Culprit, Steve Bug's Poker Flat, and Hot Creations, Lee Foss' and Jamie Jones' (collectively Hot Natured) label that just cannot go wrong in my book.

This track is his take on "Trust Issues" by the Weeknd, who is another one of my favorites, albeit outside of the general electronic genre.  The Toronto-based indie R&B singer has an absolutely heavenly voice, and its clear that MANIK wasn't trying to take anything away from it with this one.

NYC: MANIK will be at Le Bain on July 6th...mark your calendars!

Here's one released on Poker Flat:

And one more...why not?  Forgot about this gem until recently:

Happy Weekend!
