Electric Zoo 2012: Friday Review / Track IDs

Have to start these reviews somewhere so why not start with Friday? After (somewhat) recovering from a very, very busy 3 days of nonstop dancing, I am finally able to clear my head and recall what the hell happened during this marathon of a weekend. As most people did on Friday, our schedule brought us to the Fool's Gold tent for the majority of the day with stops off at Netsky, Reboot, and Luciano throughout.

Treasure Fingers

Treasure Fingers started out the day for us playing his usual mix of nu disco fire and chiller electronic tracks.  It was a perfect way to start the day as everyone's feet needed a little bit of a warm up for what was about to ensue. One of the best tracks that we did not suspect him to play was by Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, who we recently saw at LPR, called Tapes & Money.

Old School Wub Wubs

As I stated in a previous post, some people are saying dubstep is dead.  And although it may be getting close to that thanks to the filthy dubstep that's being put out nowadays, I would like to remind everyone of some of the older tracks out there.  I won't go as far as showing you the likes of Kode9, old Skream, or Ikonika but still, I will bring back some memories for some of you and hopefully remind everyone how great and simple dubstep was a couple years ago or so.  There is a host of tracks below that will bring you down memory lane so make sure to hit the jump in order to catch all of them.  Get the subs out and who knows, you may find a song or two you didn't know existed.

A Couple of Mixes

Haven't posted many mixes lately, so seeing what has recently been posted on the interwebs, I figure it's about that time. Kaskade had the honors of doing a Radio 1 Essential Mix this past weekend and he was kind enough to post it on his Soundcloud for everyone to hear. In addition, Dillon Francis had a mini mix on Flux Pavilion and Doctor P's take over of Radio 1. To top it all off I have a more unknown name with Lucky Date dropping a solid 40 minute mix that I think I might like the best of all of them. It ranges from electro house to dubstep which is just the kind of variety that I like. Take a listen to all 3 mixes below and your ears will thank you.

Dillon Francis has recently been letting loose some free tracks on his Soundcloud for all of us to hear. In my opinion, he is the King of Moombahton at this moment and therefore you all should pay close attention to anything he puts out there. Even more importantly than all of us however, is that Dillon will be playing in Brooklyn this weekend for only $5 at the Brooklyn Bowl, tickets here. I don't know if you all realize how much of a treat that will be. I can almost guarantee that this will be the cheapest show to see Dillon Francis from this point forward. Meaning he's blowing up so take advantage of this practically free show.

Dillon Francis is having his first ever show in NYC on June 4th, Saturday, at Good Units.  If you like dubstep or moombahton I urge you to be in attendance.  Should be a solid show, not sure how the venue is, never heard of it to be honest.  Below is a sample of some old school Dillon Francis and one of his newest songs Beautician.  Tickets are only $15.

Today Dillon Francis released 2 new tracks off his Soundcloud, one for free, one for purchase. Very interesting sounds in the free one but I honestly like it better than the one for purchase, not that they aren't both good tracks. Check them out below and decide for yourself.
