Monday Mini Mix - Kito

Just discovered this dubstep mini mix that Kito did and it's pretty solid to say the least. I already posted a funky disco mix below but I've been in a dubstep mood lately so here we are. This chick is on Skream's label and she actually puts out some quality original stuff herself. Make sure to check out some of her original tracks on her Soundcloud as well as the mix below.

Call Your Girlfriend

Remixes of Robyn have always been some of my favorites no matter who they are by.  However, when you throw in the names of Kaskade and Feed Me into the mix then I get very interested.  Kaskade recently released a dub of Call Your Girlfriend on his Soundcloud for free, as usual and it is quite the tasty treat for this upcoming weekend.  The Feed Me remix was an instant classic when it was released and to be honest it still hasn't gotten old.  I don't think anything can top the Feed Me remix but I am quite biased as I love most anything Feed Me puts out there.  Judge for yourself but definitely let your ears hear these amazing remixes.

Monday Mix - Keep The Funk Alive

Well, first things first.  I realize I haven't posted anything since god knows when.  No, the blog will not be inactive, I simply had a rough weekend and felt like dying from about Friday until Sunday.  Now that that's out of the way, I bring you an hour long mix from Aeroplane.  I'm not really sure what to classify this mix as, potentially funk/disco?  Aeroplane took the pleasure of calling it "Boobs" which can't be a bad thing.  Below is the mix plus the best jam on the mix in my opinion.  Been having this song on repeat for the past couple days, keeping the funk alive baby.

Sander Van Doorn, meet the Bingo Players

Anyone who saw our post earlier for the new Bingo Players original "Cry" knows that we are closely following everything these guys do.  I just ran into a new remix they just did for Sander Van Doorn and it is extra tasty my friends. I must admit, it seems like all my favorites producers these days come from either Holland or Sweden.  Don't sleep on this one folks.  If you haven't already check out their soundcloud for a ton of fresh bangers.

I Know The Truth

It's official, Pretty Lights is moving towards dubstep and I love him for it.  This video from Bonnaroo is, in a word, epic.  The song is also, in a word, epic.  Gotta love it when new artists go in a different direction successfully.  I've always been a fan of all of Pretty Lights' music but never considered myself a die hard fan.  I think this might have to change after hearing this new jam and seeing his light show.  Definitely going out of my way to see him next time he is around New York and I'll be sure to let all of you know when he's around.

Pretty Lights - I Know The Truth

Nero + Skrillex

This was leaked just the other day and damn is it good. Not only is the original ridiculously good but this remix is actually better in my opinion. Nero and Skrillex collaborated together to make this gem and it certainly shows.  Enough talk, listen below.

Nero - Promises (Skrillex and Nero Remix)

Destiny?

I find it bizarre but awesome that this remix happened immediately after I posted my favorite Crave You remixes and favorite Adventure Club songs. Some might say this is coincidence but I tend to think that it was simply meant to be. Adventure Club remixed Crave You by Flight Facilities, one of my all time favorite songs to be remixed (although the original is quite good as well). And as Adventure Club always does, it comes with a free download. Give it a listen and enjoy.

Monday Mix - Mustard Pimp

I believe I posted the last one of these as well about a month ago but they're too good not to post. Great little hour mix from Mustard Pimp that has some fairly new tracks on it, nothing unreleased as far as I could hear but who knows. Track list after the jump as usual. Would love to see Mustard Pimp added to the Electric Zoo lineup as I missed them at Webster Hall awhile back but only time will tell...

NiT GriT

Always been somewhat of a NiT GriT but never considered myself a HUGE fan. After this song that he has just posted on his Soundcloud I think I may be a huge fan. That is, as long as he keeps making stuff somewhat like this. No lie, I've listened to this track at least 10 times today already and it was posted 6 hours ago. I know, some may find that excessive but trust me on this one, this is a must listen. I don't even know how to classify it, I simply love it.

Adventure Club

So apparently not many people know about Adventure Club as I was talking to one of my friends who is pretty into the dubstep scene and he had no idea. I then asked around more and no one had really heard of them. Well, that is simply unacceptable in my book so allow me to elaborate and educate you all. If you like dubstep then you must know of Adventure Club.
They're a duo that just recently started up out of Montreal and damn can they make some great music. Fortunately for us, all of their songs on their Soundcloud are available for free! This means that every single great song you hear right now from them can be instantly added to your library to be played whenever, wherever. I've posted 3 of my favorites down below but definitely check out their Soundcloud for their full collection. If anything new is posted by them I will be sure to post it here for all of you as soon as it's released (assuming it's good, and how can it not be?).

FINALLY...

We can all ID the track that is mixed with Penguin at all of Avicii's shows.  He just released a minute preview on his Soundcloud of what he calls the Vocal Mix of Fade Into Darkness.  Who knows if this will be the name of the track rather than Penguin but either way it's incredible and this means it's getting closer to a release which is always a good thing.  Avicii will be back in New York at Governor's Island on July 17th and according to Avicii this show is already more than half way sold out so act quickly because he will absolutely kill it as usual.

Crave You

This song by Flight Facilities has been remixed numerous times and every time it is, the vocals always get me. Heard at least 5 remixes of these vocals to date and no matter what people put behind Gisele's voice, it never gets old. A new one was released today by Michael Brun, Paris FZ & Simo T and needless to say it is a great listen. If this doesn't put you in a good mood I don't know what will. I've also included a couple other remixes of Crave You that I love because even listening to all 3 in a row, the vocals still don't get old.

Pregame More

It's a beautiful day for an outdoor pregame or party so I come to you with the newest Lazy Rich mix which brings you only the best in Electro House right now. Starts with some great random tunes followed by his Top 10 countdown of the latest tunes this month. He isn't afraid to throw in some dubstep either so basically any genre of music that I post, he includes in his mix which is why I love it so much. Check it out below and the track list after the jump.  Free download as well here (right click -> save link as).

Throwback Round 2!

Not too much needs to be said about Daft Punk.  Like many others, they are the reason I got into electronic music.  I think this track is one of their more underrated tracks (maybe thats just me though).  Nice and simple melody and a bit on the disco-y side of things, this one is sure to get your body moving.

Daft Punk - Voyager

Nero Throwback Thursday

Some great dubstep throwbacks this week as I feel like I have fallen out of touch with my inner dubstep self lately. Nero are by far one of my favorite dubstep groups and they continue to impress me with every release. Their new album will be released on August 15th and is called Welcome Reality. The track list was actually recently released which is below:

2808
Doomsday
My Eyes
Guilt
...Fugue State
Me And You
Innocence
In The Way
Scorpions
Crush
Must Be The Feeling
Reaching Out
Promises
Departure

To say that I'm excited for this is an understatement. Just take a quick listen to these amazing older dubstep tunes they have and you'll see why their new stuff should be even better. I urge each and every one of you to check out their Essential Mix as well, it is by far the best essential mix I have ever heard, no joke.

Techno techno techno

Lots more new music, most of it being techno in origin. We start off with a new EP that will be released on Beatport on June 27th by BeatauCue. This is a mini mix and there really isn't much telling what song is what but it is good regardless and I suggest at least a listen.

BeatauCue - Falcon Punch EP Minimix

Next we have some pretty new Savoy of whom, if you didn't know already, will be playing at Webster Hall this Friday with Zedd. This should be one hell of a show and I recommend exploring more Savoy if you don't know much about them. This song comes with a free download as well.

Savoy - Free Agent (Original Mix)
Free Agent (Original Mix) by Savoy

And last but certainly not least is another remix by Crazibiza which may be my favorite of the bunch. This could very well be because I'm more of a house fan than techno but whatever, I like what I like. A bit of a let down that it's only a 2:36 clip but it's quite tasty regardless. I definitely need to increase my collection of Crazibiza tunes.

Passion

This post has the original mix of the song plus the Hardwell edit all in one. The Soundcloud begins with the Hardwell edit until 2:45, where the original mix comes in. Both are very good house songs that as far as I know are not out yet. If I come across the full version of either the edit or the original I'll be sure to post them here as well.

New Felguk

Felguk released another electro house gem today on Beatport called Blow Out. Can never get enough of that Brazilian Electro House sound. With a drop that literally sounds like the speakers have been blown out, I don't think you can possibly say this is an inaccurate title. You might think this would make it a terrible song but you would be wrong. The build is great and the drop is phenomenal. Definitely look out for Felguk on the Friday of Electric Zoo, don't want to miss them.

Throooooowback

This song is a great electronic song and the vocals are incredible.  I heard this a year or two ago and instantly fell in love with it.  Sure, maybe not enough of a house beat or dubstep wobble that you're used to hearing here but it is just too perfect to not share with all of you.  The video is also pretty damn legit so make sure to watch it rather than simply listen.  I've also thrown in a little bonus below which is a Ted and Francis remix of Something Good Can Work by Two Door Cinema Club.  This was my favorite chill summer jam last year, nothing crazy at all about it, just a classic song. See, we don't always post stuff you HAVE to rave to.

Eltron Electro Podcast 5

This would be the work mix of the day.  Found it late last night and it has many new releases on it.  If you're looking for the latest tunes (some still unreleased) in good quality then look no further than this mix.  Great new songs from Kaskade, Hardwell, Sidney Samson, Alesso, and more.  Granted some of these are old but they are just as good (The Island Madeon Remix for example).  Give it a listen and enjoy, it'll definitely make the work day go by quicker with some quality tunes.  Track list after the jump.

Avicii @ Neptunes Beach Club Recap

Where do I begin with how fantastic Avicii really is. We all know how great his production skills are but I swear his selection and mixing abilities are just as good. He dropped all of his classic songs, from Levels to his remix of Rapture but also some great house jams from other producers. Why end with Save the World Tonight like every other DJ does when you can start off your set with a bang? Avicii did just that. He then threw in multiple jams such as the Eric Prydz Remix of Personal Jesus, Kaskade's mash up of Coming Home at 4AM, and Nicky Romero's edit of Flash by Green Velvet.

When Nicky Romero's edit was transitioned into so abruptly from Coming Home, everyone caught the drop and that's when the deck started to cave in. Yes, the venue literally broke from the weight of everyone jumping at the same time and security had to block off about a 6 ft by 6 ft circle around the caved in area. Luckily, they let the show go on but I believe that's why Avicii dropped Levels fairly early on, just in case he got shut down because of the deck breaking.

The weather started to get worse as the set went on and eventually it reached the point of a downpour. Many went inside but the real Avicii fans raged outside despite the monsoon. This was what really set the show apart for me as Avicii timed it perfectly, at the height of the storm, with his remix of Drowning. This absolutely killed it. I really can't phrase it any other way, it was just too perfect.

As the rain settled down again he dropped The Island (Steve Angello/Max Vangelli/AN21) and Starry Eyed (Max Vangelli/AN21 remix). From then on it was pretty mellowed out for the most part as everyone was drenched and freezing cold after the rain had stopped. The last song I remember him playing was the Porter Robinson remix of Seek Bromance, but of course earlier was his vocal extended mix of it.

Definitely check him out the next time you can (which in NYC would be at Provocateur on 6/16 or at Governor's Island in July).  He is one DJ that I would be more than willing to see another show of and of course I am always on the look out for any of his new material.  Thank you Avicii for a fantastic show.  P.S. Release your Penguin Vocal Mix as soon as possible, I'd appreciate it.

Avicii @ Neptunes Highlights, special thanks to ClubCriticsNYC for taking this video.

Steve Angello at Governor's Island

Yet another DJ has decided to grace us with his presence on Governor's Island. Steve Angello will be playing on August 20th with Thomas Gold as well. Obviously with him being 1/3 of Swedish House Mafia this show will sell out fast. Tickets will be going on sale tomorrow morning at 10 AM with a limited number of $25 tickets. I imagine this will be through Pacha's website but it doesn't exactly say so. I would check here at 10 AM and you should be good to go at that cheap price.

Dirtyloud + Bloody Beetroots

Two new songs for all of your listening pleasure. First, a very ambitious attempt by Dirtyloud to remix such a huge song with their remix of Unleash the Fucking Dada. Dada Life are by far one of my favorite groups in all of EDM as their songs are about as crazy as they actually are. Dirtyloud does a pretty good job with this remix though, and they're giving it away for free with a fresh 320 for all.

Second is a new Bloody Beetroots song that remixes Something A La Mode. I'm a little late on this one but it's still worthy of a post nonetheless. Take a listen and don't forget you can see them on the Saturday of Electric Zoo where I'm sure their classics, such as Warp, will be dropped.

Take Me Higher

Heard this amazing disco jam in a set today and it absolutely blew me away. Fitting that it would be by Rogerseventytwo of the group TWR72 with The Walk. Never really heard any of his solo stuff and now after this I feel like I have to. Great disco with some very catch vocals to accompany it. Check out the TWR72 Soundcloud as well for some more good tuneage.

New Concert Dates Released

Went through the usual rotation of venues and such today and found quite a few interesting shows that have been recently posted.
First off, Deadmau5 will be playing a 3rd show at Roseland Ballroom on that Friday. Wednesday and Thursday are already sold out so be sure to pick up these Friday tickets (and they seem to have no BS fees either which is fantastic).

Second most important show announced has to be Sebastian Ingrosso + Alesso at Pacha in a couple weeks. As anyone and everyone knows, Alesso is blowing up right now with has remix of Pressure and his own song Nillionaire. The guy has serious skills and you should all take full advantage of him being in the area.

Three shows worthy of a shout out at Webster Hall coming up with Yolanda Be Cool + Treasure Fingers, Mt Eden, and Miike Snow. All of these would be pretty good shows, wouldn't say they're going to blow your mind or anything but all would be great to see.

Lastly, but certainly not least, is Ghostland Observatory at Terminal 5. If you haven't seen the lasers they have at a Ghostland show then please check it out below and/or on Youtube anywhere and everywhere. This is a must see show in my opinion, simply for the light show and the venue, not to mention the great music as well.

TAI's Spring '11 DJ Mix

For those of you that haven't seen, TAI released an hour long DJ mix not so long ago.  Among the many techno jams found in this masterful mix are a few unreleased bangers from D.I.M and TAI including the much anticipated Ion which has been dropped by just about everyone this summer from Boys Noize to Gessafelstein.  Take a listen below and go to TAI's soundcloud to catch a full tracklisting.

What a Weekend

Apologies for no posts yesterday, I was busy making the trip out to the Hamptons for Avicii at Neptunes Beach Club all day long. Review of that will be coming later on today, once I get the videos that were taken by my colleagues. Think I may have gotten some sort of hypothermia but it was so worth it.
New concert updates, new music, and of course the review of Avicii all today. To start off, below, we have a new David Jones jam with quite the sax line and a teaser of Alex Mind and Sue Cho's new collaboration called Deeply Into You, not the typical Alex Mind electro sound. Hit these up for now, we shall make today full of new music for all of you.

Zeds Dead Mini Mix

An entire mini mix full of unreleased Zeds Dead songs? Don't mind if I do... 10 minutes of straight Zeds Dead dubstep killing it. The only song on here that has been released is their remix of Toot Toot. I've heard Adrenaline before as well but damn are there some great tracks in here. Definitely give this mix a listen.

You Won't Feel a Thing

Ok so I apologize for the post below (I will leave it there just for the man who posted it). It was already posted awhile ago if anyone recalls... But wait, I haven't forgotten about all of you tonight. I'm so sorry boys and girls, I am being drunkenly side tracked to people, posts, Call of Duty, and everything else important. But wait, Lamebrain is about to drop the freshest beat ever. It may be old but I swear to god, get your ears ready for this. Drum and bass + dubstep, is there anything more you can ask for? Well I guess certain party favors would do for now but these tunes are even better...

Throwback Thursdays

So I thought it would be a good idea to start a new trend on Thursdays.  To get you ready for the weekend, I am going to supply you with some great oldies that really never get old.  I was inspired when Medina - You & I (Deadmau5 remix) came on ipod on my walk home from work today.  Its such a simple yet beautiful song; really has that older progressive feel that made me to fall in love with the mau5 in the first place.  Enough chatter for now, I must go prepare for the Avicii weekend.  See you in the Hamptons.

Paddywaggle

I'm gonna be honest and say that I really don't know any Paddywaggle songs other than this one that Louis La Roche just posted. Supposedly it's new but either way it's fantastic. Definitely a song to get the feet moving. I initially was a little pissed it wasn't a Louis La Roche song that he had linked to but in the end, all is forgiven and I love it. Take a listen below.

Jam of the Summer?

Ok. Before you hear this. Just know. This will be played in clubs for the entire summer. This song is pretty great and many are already deeming it the song of the summer. Below is a rip of it off of Pete Tong's Radio Show over the weekend where it was his Essential New Tune of the week. Starts off good but ends unreal, make sure to turn up your speakers for this one.

I Can Give You House

And that is primarily what you shall receive today. First up, is a great new Hardwell remix of Bella. Female vocals + Hardwell house music is never a bad thing. Granted it's only a preview but it comes out on June 14th so we don't have to wait that long for the full version to be released. I could listen to this clip over and over again anyway so it'll make them time pass quicker until the full release.

Joker + Gorillaz

Can't really beat this combination.  Definitely one of the top chillstep songs I have but then again, most any Joker song instantly becomes a contender.  This was a part of one of my playlists on 8tracks which you can listen to anytime here.  And to anyone that reads this blog for house music I apologize, I have been tired all day which is part of the reason for all of these chillstep posts.  This will be the last one before I go pass out, promise there will be more electro house/house music tomorrow.

Gorillaz - Doncamatic (Joker Remix)

New Skream

Different sound than I'm used to hearing from Skream on this one but very chill, almost dreamy.  Kinda just puts you in a daze despite the annoying robot chick saying the website over and over again to prevent ripping it.  Skream and Benga will be on Radio 1 Thursday night playing some new tracks throughout their radio show so definitely check them out then.  For now, walk in the clouds with Skream.

Pretty Lights

I was gonna list every artist that Pretty Lights uses in this mash up/remix that he just released but the title would have been too long. Radiohead, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, and Pretty Lights all in one chillstep song. I don't think it can get much better than that. Especially when the main sample is of Everything In It's Right Place which might be my favorite song of all time. Uses Closer by NIN and All Apologies by Nirvana as well. This dubstep mash up is pretty amazing and I didn't even mention that Pretty Lights never does dubstep songs. Got to love it when artists branch out to create different sounds. And in addition, he releases all of his music free on his website.

Pickle Patch Tour @ Tammany Hall

Interesting bit of news I found out about the other day. I know I'm a little late on it but it's worth pointing out that PeaceTreaty, Autoerotique, and Scanners (among others) will all be in NYC on the Pickle Patch Tour on June 20th at Tammany Hall. Granted, that is a Monday which isn't the most ideal thing in the world for those of us that have to work. But it would be well worth it as you can see all of the above artists for only $5 which is more than a deal, that's a gift. PeaceTreaty would be the main attraction for me as they have quite a few bangers that they will unleash. Whether said bangers will be house or dubstep songs, who knows, PeaceTreaty doesn't discriminate, which makes them a great act to see. Below are a couple of my favorites from them, be sure to at least check it out here. Tickets available here.
And by the way, The Knocks and Xaphoon Jones (from Chiddy Bang) are playing at Tammany Hall June 14th, check the side for ticket info.

Thomas Gold remixes Adele

This is just a brilliant remix from Thomas Gold.  I must admit I am just getting on the Thomas Gold band wagon but this guy has to be the hottest up and comer in house music next to Avicii.  His remix of Moguai's We Want Your Soul is the song that really grabbed my attention and his remix of Adele's Set Fire to the Rain (below) is absolutely MASSIVE.  Along with these gems, he currently is finishing up his highly anticipated single with Axwell which is due out shortly.  If you are a progressive house fan prepare to be in love.

Adele - Set Fire to the Rain (Thomas Gold Remix)

Dubstep.... Symphony?

If you didn't know this was happening today then prepare to be amazed. Epic symphony sounds thrown in with samples of some great dubstep songs such as Innocence, Guilt, and In For The Kill. Can't really find a good quality full version on Youtube but I posted the best I could find down below. Otherwise, you can go directly to the source at BBC Radio here (ffw to 1:30:00). Some people think this is just alright because it isn't filthy with all the crazy wobbles in most dubstep but I love it, and the fact that Nero put forth the effort to step out of the box is worthy of applause in the first place.

Too Much New Music

As usual, there is too much new music on Mondays so instead of making a bunch of separate posts I will group them all into one neat, little post.  A couple free downloads, a couple previews, a couple full tracks for purchase.  From the likes of Kaskade to Noisia, pick your poison as all of these songs are pretty damn good.  Best ones before the jump but be sure to check after the jump for a full portion of new tunes.

Netsky Mix

Been awhile since I've been looking into some drum and bass but this mix Netsky put out about a month ago is pretty, pretty, pretty good. Definitely gets the blood flowing as all drum and bass does with its fast pace. If you find yourself falling asleep at work tomorrow just put this on and you will be able to stay awake at least for the 30 minutes that it's on. Found a great jam on there that I did not know about until now called Touch which is a Netsky remix. That is posted below the mix itself.

To The Stars EP

Well if you didn't know already, Feed Me released his newest EP "To The Stars" on Friday and it's a monster. I recommend picking it up as soon as you can as it kills it. The best song on it has to be Pink Lady or Strange Behaviour but both are phenomenal. Can't hate on Chain Smoker or To The Stars either though, all 4 tracks are very, very quality. Below is the full version of Pink Lady for all of your listening pleasure. Make sure to get it at Beatport as soon as possible.

Hot Pink Delorean

Well that happened very quickly... Usually when I'm suggested new music that I've never heard it takes a few songs to fully get the feel for the DJ or group.  Not with this group, of whom I must say I am quite fond of already.  Could also have something to do with the fact that I'm listening to a Lazy Rich remix of one of their songs but I swear, their original stuff is just as good.  Three guys from Boston who also go by the name of Terravita, which seems to be more dubstep than the house releases under Hot Pink Delorean.
The first track here, My Favourite, is an original from them under their Hot Pink Delorean name and is pretty new as well, not much more than a month old.  Second track is under their more dubstep name Terravita called Up In The Club and it's as much of a banger as the first, if not more.  And I guess I won't tease with my comment before about Lazy Rich so the third song is that fantastic Lazy Rich remix I found.  This post got a lot longer than I originally anticipated but it's so worth it.

Gessafelstein

For those of you have not heard, Gessafelstein is turning the techno world upside down. His release Conspiracy pt. 1 has tons of people buzzing along with his remix of Zzt - ZZafrika. Not the typical type of french-electro everyone is getting accustomed to these days. Hopefully after he completes his current world tour he will return to NYC.

Bingo

This song is unbelievable. I kinda want to leave it at that but I suppose I'll elaborate. It is my favorite disco jam now and will be for the next couple weeks I imagine. Haven't heard a ton of Bingo Players so I must investigate more as soon as possible. Enjoy this amazing treat from Bingo Players called Cry.

Music Sounds Better With You

Ok so this remix isn't actually THAT electronic which is all that I post. It most certainly is not house or dubstep or electro that's for damn sure. But I love it so much that I have to post it because if you don't like it then there must be something wrong with you. I've also posted a mash up of One More Time with it that is actually quite good as well but in my opinion nothing beats this soft electronic sound with the piano, vocals, and drums. Can never, ever get enough of this song.

The Monster

First there was The Werewolf, now there's The Monster's Revenge (referring to Frankenstein) by Figure.  Gotta love the horror movie samples that Figure throws into some of his songs.  He calls this genre "Horror House" but I consider it more of a dubstep sound despite the tempo.  Give it a listen and decide for yourself, either way its good. Free download as well.

To The Stars

Finally we get a full track from Feed Me's "To The Stars" EP which will be released this Friday.  I used to think this (Strange Behaviour) was my favorite until I heard Pink Lady live at Dayglow.  Either way, both songs are fucking unreal and the second drop in Strange Behaviour is phenomenal.  If the vocals don't get you going then the bass and wobbles most certainly will.  Might have to figure out a way to see Feed Me again before Electric Zoo because that can't come soon enough.
